Delhi IRS Officer's Daughter's Rape-Murder: The 22-year-old daughter of an IRS officer was allegedly raped and murdered at her residence in South Delhi's Amar Colony on Wednesday. An IIT graduate and a UPSC aspirant, she aimed to become a bureaucrat and serve the nation like her father. This incident has cut short the life of a young woman who was full of dreams.
Wanted To Become Bureaucrat, Serve The Nation Like Her Father
The family of the victim described her as being "so full of life" and driven by a desire to "make her parents proud." Speaking to Hindustan Times, her aunt recalled a promise the niece once made, "You have been sitting in Dad’s official car with a red beacon. You will soon sit in mine."
Seeing her spirit and dedication, her family believed she would have cleared the UPSC examination, scheduled this May, on her first attempt.
The woman is survived by her 55-year-old father, an IRS officer, her mother, a dentist, and her 25-year-old brother, currently working in Mumbai.
The victim's brother had got engaged a few months ago, and her family had been waiting for her exam to end in May so they could start preparing for the wedding. "She was so happy for the engagement, and they were all waiting for her exam to end in May so they could start preparing for the wedding," the aunt said.
'Exceptionally Good In Studies'
Her aunt described her as being 'exceptionally good in studies'. The 22-year-old had attended a well-recognised school in South Delhi before graduating from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.
For the past year, she had been focused on her UPSC examinations. "We all knew she would be able to crack her UPSC examination in the first attempt only," her aunt added.
'Humble, Down To Earth'
A neighbour close to the family recalled the victim as being 'down to earth' and 'full of humility'. "She and my granddaughter went to France together for an exchange programme when they were in school," she was quoted as saying.
IRS Officer's Daughter's Rape And Murder
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the victim was alone at home. Her parents were at the gym. When the couple returned home, they found their daughter lying in a pool of blood, with belongings scattered across parts of the house.
Reports suggest that she was raped before being strangled, allegedly with a mobile phone charger cable. Hours later, former domestic help, Rahul Meena, was arrested in Dwarka. A case of rape, murder and robbery has been registered.
