Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: Taking a tough stand on Aliganj coaching centre fire and alleged illegal construction linked to the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has summoned Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) Vice President Prathamesh Kumar with an action report at 5 pm on Tuesday.

A massive blaze ripped through a coaching-cum-gaming zone in UP capital Lucknow's Aliganj, claiming at least 15 lives and leaving almost a dozen others with burn injuries. Several other victims, mostly students, sustained injuries after jumping from the windows of the three-storey building to escape the deadly fire.

CM Yogi Seeks Details Of Sealing

CM Yogi has sought complete details of the total number of seal notices issued in all seven zones of the city from January 1 till now, their implementation at the ground level and demolition.

On Monday, a massive fire broke out at a coaching institute in Aliganj, claiming the lives of 15 students. The illegal building housed a pet shop, a clinic, and an animation centre, along with coaching.

Given the severity of the incident, CM Yogi Adityanath formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday to investigate the matter. The SIT team, which came into action, visited the scene on Tuesday and completed the process of gathering scientific evidence.

Following the fire incident, the Education Department launched a special campaign against coaching centres operating in the city on Tuesday, following government instructions. Nine coaching centres were sealed for failing to comply with standards and failing to provide required documents during the inspection.

Earlier, LDA officials had stated that the affected building in Lucknow was meant to be used for residential purposes. However, the accused builder avoided the regulations and used the premise for business purposes for the past few years.

In its statement, the UP government has stated that the building was issued a demolition order in 2016, but the order was later revoked within two months. The state government has also formed a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the whole incident.
