Lucknow Fire: The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the fire incident at a coaching and animation institution in Lucknow that claimed 15 lives. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, following a high-level meeting, directed the team to submit its report within seven days. In it statement, the UP government has informed that the building was issued a demolition order in 2016, but the order was later revoked within two months.

- In its initial statement, the police stated that the building was given permission for residential purposes. However, it received a demolition order after illegal construction was found at the site. As per the letter, the order was reversed within two months, raising questions about the decision.
- The Lucknow Police sealed the building and prohibited the entry of the general public as forensic and fire department teams prepare to collect evidence from the site. Apart from this, a heavy deployment of officials remained at the site in the late hours of Monday.
- As per the reports, the building lacked sufficient exit options, and the firefighters had to break portions of the structure to execute the rescue operation. "The biggest challenge during rescue operations was access. Firefighters had to create alternate openings and break portions of the structure to reach trapped occupants," a senior fire department official was quoted as saying by News18.
- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) officials have confirmed that the building was meant to be used for residential purposes. The officials are investigating whether any permission was obtained to use the premise for the commercial purpose. In addition, the probe will also investigate whether the concerned authorities conducted inspections at the site.

- As per the reports, most of the people were trapped on the second floor, and several of them jumped out of the building, which was completely gutted in the fire.
