State Bureau, Bhopal: After consecutive defeats in the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Madhya Pradesh Congress is working on a strategy to strengthen its organisation and election management. The party has revamped its organisation down to the booth level and is preparing to form a dedicated election management team for the first time for the upcoming municipal elections in May-June 2027 and future contests.

The proposed team will work from the state to the divisional level, bringing all affiliated Congress wings into a coordinated campaign framework to counter the BJP's strong network. The detailed outline for this team will be finalised during the Political Affairs Committee meeting in Bhopal on July 11.

MP Congress Shifts Focus To Election Strategy

After completing the state organisation-building process over the next two months, the party plans to focus all its efforts on election preparations. Senior leaders will head the election management team, building local squads to assess political, social, and caste equations. In areas identified as weak, a unique strategy will be deployed based on local conditions. Active and dedicated workers will be given responsibility for its implementation.

To ensure accountability, the team will prepare division-wise monthly reports. This will be reviewed by State Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary and State Congress President Jitu Patwari.

Focus On Weak Booths

The election management team will focus on identifying and strengthening weak booths, especially where Congress has suffered consecutive defeats. The party will assess voter support for both the BJP and Congress at the household level and create local action plans to address the causes of poor performance.

By increasing the activity of the organisation and workers at these booths before the elections, Congress aims to build a robust ground network.

A Review Of Datia By-Election

At its July 11 meeting, the Congress will conduct a booth-wise review of the Datia Assembly by-election results. For this election, senior leaders, including current and former MLAs, were assigned responsibility for clusters of two to 30 booths.

State Congress President Jitu Patwari stated that the meeting will analyse booth-level results, investigate reasons for losses in specific areas, and evaluate the performance of cluster and sector teams.

The Congress aims to build an effective booth-level election machinery to counter the BJP, with the upcoming urban body elections serving as the first major test of this strategy.
