MP Police Cyber Alert: The Madhya Pradesh State Cyber Cell has issued an urgent advisory after a massive data leak exposed the email IDs and passwords of an estimated 68 crore internet users worldwide.

State Cyber SP Pranay Nagvanshi said the leaked credentials could allow hackers to access victims’ social media accounts and digital wallets. He urged all users to change their email passwords right away.

To stay protected, the advisory recommends enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on email accounts. This adds an extra layer of security: even if a hacker gets your password, they cannot log in without the OTP sent to your phone.

However, users must remain cautious. If a login prompt asks for email permissions and you see “Yes, it’s me,” do not click it, as it could grant the hacker full access.If you accidentally click it, immediately change your password to regain control.

- The advisory stresses using separate, strong passwords for each website and social media account. This limits damage if one account is compromised.
