Vasai-Virar Rains: Torrential rain has completely disrupted daily life in Maharashtra’s Vasai-Virar region. Heavy downpour has left several low-lying areas submerged. Residents are facing immense difficulties as water has inundated roads, residential societies, and markets.
Power Supply Cut For 70 Hours
Vasai-Virar locals allege that power supply has been disrupted for the past 70 hours in many areas. The lack of electricity has halted water supply pumps, leading to a severe drinking water crisis. Many families are forced to stand in long queues for drinking water, while residents in some areas have become dependent on water tankers. The power outage has also affected daily activities like mobile charging, internet services, household appliances, apart from operations of small businesses.
Traffic Congestion Due To Waterlogging
Traffic has been severely impacted by waterlogging on several major roads. Long queues of vehicles have formed at various locations, causing significant delays for people trying to reach their workplaces. Local train services and other modes of public transport have also been affected by the rain.
Citizens have demanded that the administration restore power supply, arrange for drinking water, and drain water from inundated areas. Although relief and emergency teams are working in several areas, it may take some time for the situation to return to normal.
IMD Forecasts More Rain Ahead
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in the region in the next hours. In light of this, the administration has appealed to the public to step out of their homes only for essential tasks, avoid waterlogged routes, and adhere to all safety guidelines issued by the authorities.

Maharashtra Weather Update
The continuous rainfall in several districts of Maharashtra has disrupted traffic movement and has caused damage to infrastructure, especially in Mumbai and Pune. IMD, in its latest advisory, has stated that several regions of Maharashtra will continue to witness rain even on Wednesday. However, the intensity is likely to reduce in the coming days, the weather department clarified.
As per the latest advisory, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts of the Konkan region. While the intensity of rain activities has reduced in Mumbai and nearby regions, moderate rains have been forecast in Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad districts today as well.
