Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that rainfall is likely to intensify in Maharashtra over the next 24 hours. As per the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in the Konkan, Ghat regions, and several other regions of the state due to strong westerly winds. While the authority has issued a red alert for multiple regions of Mumbai and Pune, an orange alert has been issued for Konkan and other Ghat regions.
As per the weather department, Mumbai, North Konkan, Raigad, Pune, and the Ghat areas of Nashik could experience moderate to extremely heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Along with rain, these regions are also expected to witness thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning.
Red Alert In Pune
The weather department has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in the Ghat regions of the Pune district. The administration has appealed to the public to follow the guidelines and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in the hilly and landslide-prone regions.
Orange Alert In These Districts
An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued for multiple districts, including Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Nashik. The heavy rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in the low-lying regions, leading to inconveniences to the commuters.
Yellow Alert In These Districts:

- Sindhudurg
- Kolhapur
- Akola
- Yavatmal
- Chandrapur
- Gadchi
As per the weather department, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Buldhana, Washim, Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia districts. The meteorological department and the administration have appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains and stay away from rivers, streams, and waterlogged areas.
The residents are advised to take special precautions in hilly areas and follow the guidelines issued by the meteorological department and the local administration.
