MP News: A diagnostic centre in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district has landed in controversy after issuing a sonography report that biology simply does not allow: the scan allegedly showed a 42-year-old male patient having a uterus. This isn’t some rare medical anomaly, but a glaring case of peak and a reminder of how casually human lives are handled sometimes.
The case emerged from Dr Arvind Saraf Diagnostic Centre on Station Road, Satna, where Niranjan Prajapati, Chairman of the Uchehra Nagar Panchayat, underwent a sonography on January 13 after complaining of abdominal pain and swelling.
The sonography not only claimed a Uterus in Niranjan’s body but also described it in an inverted position. Something that wasn’t there in the first place.
"This report is not mine at all. It shows a uterus…" Prajapati said, adding, "I was sick and had stomach pain. I first got treatment in Unchahara and then went for sonography in Satna. I did not pay much attention initially and took medicine… but when there was no relief."
He further stated, "I went to Jabalpur. The doctor there told me clearly that this report cannot belong to me. I said, 'But the report has my name on it’.”
Wrong Sonography Can Lead To Wrong Treatment: Doctor
"A wrong sonography report can mislead treatment, affect the patient psychologically, and even become life-threatening if acted upon,” a senior doctor was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Health Department Takes Congnigence
Talking about that complaint, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Satna, Dr Manoj Shukla, said, "This complaint has come to my notice. We are taking it on record. The report will be examined thoroughly, and if any irregularity is found during the investigation, necessary action will be taken."
The victim has also filed a complaint at the police station.
