Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released by the Executive Magistrate on Sunday, a day after their preventive arrest. Delhi Police said they were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court at Delhi Cantt and released after a surety bond of Rs 50,000 was furnished, requiring them to maintain peace and good behaviour for one year.
CJP's legal head Ratna Singh also shared the update of their release on her X account. The development comes as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) prepares for a second consecutive day of protests against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
CJP's Fresh Protest Call
The CJP is set to hold another march to Jantar Mantar today, following a major confrontation between protesters and Delhi Police on Saturday. The march comes as the group continues to press for its three demands, including the resignation and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The appeal was made by CJP's national organisation in-charge, Ajikya Shinde, who the pressure group entrusted to lead the protest at Jantar Mantar.
"But we're not backing down! We will march to Jantar Mantar again tomorrow and stay there until all our demands are met," the CJP's post on X read. On Saturday, thousands of protesters on their way to Jantar Mantar were detained by the Delhi Police. Dipke, along with CJP leaders Das and Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police inside an aircraft at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Saturday. The three had arrived from Mumbai to participate in the planned protest at Jantar Mantar.
