Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him 'Mogambo' during the Chhatron Ki Goonj event in Chennai. Speaking at the event on Saturday, Gandhi said, "Mogambo Modi is destroying India’s democracy". He also announced a fresh INDIA bloc protest on the streets of Delhi on Monday, adding that the Opposition would meet the CJI, demanding action.

Gandhi also expressed concern over Delhi Police's crackdown on protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party protest in a separate X post, saying, "Amit Shah's Delhi Police has itself descended into thuggery—and it's openly giving license and encouragement to the real goons of RSS-BJP to unleash violence on women and youth."

In a post on X, Gandhi said, "As I had said, the more Mogambo Modi and his government suppress, the more the anger of Gen Z and students will swell."

INDIA bloc to resume protest on Monday

Gandhi also announced a fresh INDIA bloc protest to be held on Monday as Delhi witnesses continued unrest. "On Monday, October 12, Congress, the entire INDIA alliance, and the country's youth will once again take to the streets in massive numbers. BJP slams Rahul Gandhi over Mogambo remark

Reacting to Gandhi's Mogambo remark, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi hit out at the LoK Sabha LoP, asking him to stop relying on 'cheap, clickbait rhetoric to hide political failures.'

He said, "It seems like you still haven’t figured out how a mature democracy works. You praise our institutions when you win states, but cry ‘Mogambo’ and ‘vote chori’ the moment India rejects you nationally."

"This childish ‘heads I win, tails you cheated’ routine is exhausting. Resorting to Bollywood tropes and schoolyard name-calling doesn’t make you look smart, it just exposes your absolute lack of any real policy alternatives", he added.
