A political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after photographs and videos of Chief Minister Vijay with actor Trisha at the Silverstone Circuit in London surfaced online. Vijay is currently on a four-day visit to London, where he is expected to meet business leaders and explore investment opportunities for Tamil Nadu.
However, his appearance alongside Trisha at an event involving actor Ajith Kumar has drawn criticism from opposition parties, which have questioned the purpose of his overseas visit.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami and BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran have sought details about the trip, including its purpose, the people accompanying the Chief Minister, whether government funds are being used and the investments being pursued for the state.
Palaniswami said he had initially welcomed Vijay’s decision to travel abroad within 100 days of assuming office as Chief Minister to attract investments. According to him, efforts to bring investments into Tamil Nadu could support economic development and create employment opportunities.
However, after photographs from Silverstone emerged, Palaniswami took a sarcastic dig at the Chief Minister. “The picture is different in the media," Palaniswami said, adding, “See how he is attracting investments."
BJP TN president Nagendran has also sought clarity on the details of Vijay’s London visit, including the people accompanying him and whether public funds are being used.

The Silverstone round was the fifth event of the 2026 Michelin Le Mans Cup championship. Ajith Kumar, who has pursued motorsport alongside his acting career, represented his team at the UK circuit.
Ajith was also seen interacting with fans around his car. In a video, he gestured towards the crowd and asked them not to scream as he stepped out of the vehicle.
