The police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a qualified doctor at a medical centre without having a medical licence and proper qualifications. The accused, identified as Mohammad Adnan, operated the Hikma Sehath Care Centre in the city.

The police said that Adnan initially started working at the centre in Golconda in 2023 as supportive medical staff, and later allegedly began treating patients himself. He holds an intermediate qualification which he completed in 2020 and does not have any medical degree. Despite this, he treated patients at the Hyderabad Centre.

Officials said Adnan, along with his mother, Saba Khan, alias Mohammadi Begum, and brother, Mohd Faizan, allegedly claimed to be ancestral 'Hakeems' (a physician) and treated patients suffering from conditions including sexual-health problems, breathing difficulty, chest pain, vomiting, severe body pain, kidney/flank pain and urinary difficulties. The duo is currently abounding.

What Was Seized?

While conducting the raid, cops seized a large quantity of unlabelled medicines and powders, including several bottles and packets labbed with codes using a marker pen. Prescription books bearing the name of Hikma Health Care were also seized, along with five books relating to a Facebook page titled 'Dr Adnan Official'.

Investigation revealed that Adnan had been working at the centre since 2023 after getting acquainted with a BUMS-qualified Unani doctor. Police said an arrangement had been made under which the qualified doctor would visit the clinic occasionally, while Adnan and his family allegedly continued treating patients.

Police further alleged that the accused promoted the centre and its activities through Facebook, Instagram and promotional content published through SACH News.

Case Registered

A case has been registered for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, acts endangering the life or personal safety of others, along with common intention under the respective sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are investigating the clinic’s activities and the role of the absconding accused.
