In a horrific incident in Moosapet, a neighborhood in Hyderabad, a man was trapped between a lift and a wall and was hanging in a life-threatening condition. He was later saved by HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) after hours of effort.

The incident happened on Sunday at a three-storey building at Anjaneya Nagar where an old lift with grills was being used. The accident happened due to faulty sensors which forced the lift to move up while the person was getting down on the second floor.

How Did The Man Get Stuck?

The man has been identified as 40-year-old Murali, whose leg was stuck in the grills between the third and second floors and was hanging.

Murali, along with his wife, had taken the lift from the ground floor to the second floor. As soon as they reached the second floor, Murali tried to get out. In the meantime, someone pressed the lift button on the third floor and the lift moved up within seconds.

The lift went up while one of Murali's legs was inside the lift and the other was on the second floor. His leg got stuck in the lift grills. The wife who was already in the lift screamed. Hearing the screams, the residents of the apartment were alerted and they tried to rescue the man. As their efforts failed, they called the HYDRAA control room.

According to news agency ANI, a person named JDV Prasad said they had to break the lift wall to pull him out. With information also given to Sanathnagar Fire staff, the operation was completed using a hydraulic cutter available with them. The man was rescued after around 1.5 hours

The man was rescued at 10:50 am and shifted to a nearby hospital following leg fracture.
