INDIA Bloc Ramlila Maidan Rally: A day before the INDIA Bloc's rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan seeking the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday invited people to join the march. In a post on X, Gandhi informed that the march will begin at 12 pm from Connaught Place. While sharing the proposed route, the Congress leader stated that the participants will reach Ramlila Maidan via Ajmeri Gate.
Rahul Gandhi's Message
In his post, Rahul Gandhi informed that the rally will begin at 12 pm, urging the people to participate in large numbers. Earlier in a video message, the Congress leaders stated that all the demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are one. He further stated that along with the opposition leaders, people from civil societies and pressure groups will also join the rally.
"All the opposition, everybody who wants to come: political, non-political, social, service people, civil society people, and journalists. Both the programs are about the demolition of Indian democracy by Narendra Modi, by Amit Shah, and by Gyanesh Kumar and his crew in the Election Commission," Gandhi told reporters.
Delhi Police Issues Clarification
Delhi Police on Saturday stated that while the permission for the rally had already been granted, Congress had not informed about any march to Ramlila Maidan, reported news agency ANI. The authority further stated that the developments are being closely watched, adding that the security arrangements have been made to maintain the law and order. The INDIA Bloc has received the permission to hold the rally; however, the opposition alliance has been asked to end the demonstration by evening.
Protest Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar
The opposition, while citing an Indian Express report, alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roll in the poll-bound state. The senior leaders have sought removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and a detailed probe into the allegations. However, the Election Commission has maintained that the revision exercise was conducted as per the provisions of constitutions.
