Navi Mumbai Water Cut On Nov 3: With Diwali just around the corner, families across Navi Mumbai are busy cleaning, painting and getting their homes ready. But residents may face some inconvenience as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has announced a 10-hour water cut on Tuesday, 3 November. Supply from Morbe Dam will remain stopped from 10 AM to 8 PM while the civic body carries out maintenance work. This includes installing valves of different sizes and flowmeters on the water pipelines.
The shutdown will hit the evening water supply in all seven NMMC zones- Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe-Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Airoli. People living in CIDCO’s Kharghar and Kamothe nodes will also be affected.
Navi Mumbai Water Cut: Affected Areas
As part of the maintenance, the civic body will install valves on major pipelines at several points. These include Moraj Circle and Saamana Press in Sanpada, Satara Plaza in Vashi Sector 19, and Vashi Sector 29. More valves will be fitted at the pump house in Belapur Sector 28 and at Killa Junction in Sector 15. In addition, four flowmeters will be installed on the distribution main near Shirwane village that is connected to the main water pipeline. Because of this work, the regular water supply in these areas is expected to be disrupted.
NMMC Appeals to Residents to Store Water
The timing of the cut could create problems for households that are preparing for Diwali, since cleaning and washing need extra water. The civic body has requested residents to store enough water beforehand and use it carefully. It has also cautioned that water pressure may stay low during the morning supply on Wednesday, 4 November.
Mumbai Water Cut Today
Meanwhile, people living in CIDCO-administered areas of Panvel and Uran talukas have already faced water shortages today. Following the state government’s order to enforce a 10% water cut, CIDCO has started a 24-hour shutdown in several nodes across these areas from Monday, 2 November.
CIDCO gets its water from different sources and reservoirs, including Hetwane Dam, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, MIDC and Morbe Dam, which is managed by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
