A woman in Noida alleged that a Rapido delivery partner sent her inappropriate messages and dared her to file a complaint after she threatened him to do so.
The woman, Geetika Srivastava, shared her ordeal in her LinkedIn post. She wrote that she had booked a Rapido parcel service, but she went through a harassment experience as the delivery partner sent her an 'I love you' text.
"Being a woman in this country is tough, but apparently now you can't even book a single Rapido parcel delivery without being harassed by their delivery guys," she lamented in her post.
Srivastava shared a screenshot of the messages with the delivery partner. The screenshot shows the chat starts with a hello.
The delivery partner then asks her how she is and drops an 'I Love You' next. Follows the woman's message, who threatens him with a police complaint.
"Vapas call ya msg kiya to police ko complaint karenge" (Will file a police complaint if you call or message again), she replied. Undeterred, the Rapido delivery partner asks her to proceed and suggests even filing a complaint with Rapido.
"Look how confident he is, telling me to complain. Does that mean he suffers no consequences? What sort of riders have been employed by the company?" Srivastava added. She tagged Aravind Sanka, the Rapido co-founder, in her post.
Rapido Support reacted to the post, asking Srivastava to share the ride details via DM. Srivastava further asked Rapido Support to share the details of action taken by the company in the post thread.
The company later informed that the rider was permanently barred from the platform.
However, the post saw further comments with people raising concerns over the accused's possible return to the platform with a different ID, name and bike.
Recent harassment incident
Another incident of harassment was reported a few weeks ago where a woman alleged that she booked a bike from a metro station at around 11 pm, but the rider arrived in a car. The rider allegedly insisted her to board it.
Sharing her experience in a LinkedIn post, Moni Shandilya said that she was at Gate No 4 of Sector 16 Noida Metro Station when she booked a Rapido bike ride at around 11:07 pm to go home.
She alleged that the ride details showed a Hero Splendor with Anmol Mishra as the rider's name. However, she claimed that a few minutes later, a Maruti Ritz arrived instead of the bike.
She claimed that the driver was the same person she was talking to on the phone but did not match the rider profile. She said that the driver claimed his bike had broken down, asking her to get inside
"I said no. He kept insisting. At that point, I got scared and started shouting at him. He then said, 'Okay, I'm going,' and said he would cancel the ride. But I was the one who eventually cancelled the ride," she wrote.
