In a disturbing incident, a six-month-old child suffered severe injuries after it was being attacked by a pit bull at Haryana’s Sikka Colony in Sonipat. The CCTV footage showed the animal lunging at a woman holding the child in her arms.
The incident took place when the child was being taken through the street by his aunt. The pit bull suddenly ran towards the child and grabbed him. The aunt tried to rescue the infant, but the dog attacked her as well.

The woman tried to save the baby, but the dog grabbed her in its mouth. The baby then fell to the ground. The baby was seen being dragged on the road as the dog refused to let her go while others tried to pull it away. The infant was severely injured and was referred to the hospital in Rohtak. Currently, she is undergoing treatment.
No complaint has been launched yet. The disturbing incident has sparked a concern over the dog owner's negligence. The residents are also questioning whether necessary regulations were being followed for keeping such a ferocious breed at home. concern in the area.
In a separate incident, a six-year-old lost a part of his right ear and was left with several injuries after a pit bull mauled him in Delhi's Vinay Enclave last year. The dog's owner was later arrested in an attempted murder case.
Pit bulls can be kept as pets in most parts of India. There is no uniform ban, though some municipal authorities have enforced localised restrictions on keeping such ferocious breeds at home.
For example, in Ghaziabad and Chandigarh, pit bulls, rottweilers, and some other ferocious breeds cannot be kept as pets.
