Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s eight Rajya Sabha nominees and Samajwadi Party's two candidates were declared elected unopposed on Friday. Returning officer Ajit Verma announced the results of the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Sabha elections 2026.
"All the 10 candidates who were in the fray for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections -- eight from the BJP and two from the SP -- have been declared elected unopposed," Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha polls said.
Verma said except Samajwadi Party candidate Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani, the rest (who have been declared elected unopposed) have collected their certificates. Representatives of Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav and BJP candidate Radhakant Ojha have collected the certificates on their behalf.
The terms of 10 Rajya Sabha members from Uttar Pradesh end on November 25, necessitating the biennial elections to the Upper House.
Who Are BJP Nominees?
The BJP candidates who were elected as members of the Upper House are: Uttar Pradesh minister Dharampal Singh, party OBC wing chief Prakash Pal, Shruti Gangwar, Vidya Sagar Sonkar and Priyanka Rawat, Radhakant Ojha and Gopi Krishna Pandey, and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan.
Who Are SP Candidates?
The two SP candidates are veteran party leader Ram Gopal Yadav and Reliance Industries executive Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani.
Here Is The List Of Winners:
1. Dharampal Singh
2. Radhakant Ojha
3. Prakash Pal
4. Vidyasagar Sonkar
5. Gopi Krishna Pandey
6. Priyanka Singh Rawat
7. Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan
8. Shruti Gangwar
9. Ram Gopal Yadav
10. Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani
Why Have Nominees Been Elected Unopposed?
With their nominations found in order, eight BJP candidates and two from the Samajwadi Party were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha. The nomination papers of two independent candidates were rejected during scrutiny. The nomination papers of eight BJP and two SP candidates were found valid, while those of Kante Syana and Onkar Nath Chaurasia were rejected for failing to meet the mandatory requirements. Now with exactly 10 valid candidates remaining for the 10 seats, all the candidates have been elected unopposed. Though October 16 was set as the polling date, given the current arithmetic, voting was not required.
