UP Rajya Sabha Polls: Ahead of polling for the Rajya Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday hinted of fielding only two candidates. His latest post has potentially ended the speculations of the Samajwadi Party's plan to field three candidates despite lacking the sufficient numbers.

Akhilesh Yadav's Post On RS Polls

With just a few days remaining in the voting, the media reports suggested that the Samajwadi Party could field a third candidate to surprise the ruling BJP. However, a day after BJP announced its candidates, Akhilesh Yadav has also potentially ended all the speculations. In his post, the former chief minister stated that instead of winning three seats in the upper house, the party will now focus on 403 seats in the state assembly.

"Now our eyes are not on three, but on four hundred three," Yadav said in his post. With his post, the reports of any chances of cross-voting ahead of the crucial assembly election have also ended. The polling for the Rajya Sabha polls will be held on October 16. Earlier last week, the Samajwadi Party announced Dhanraj Lakhwani and Dr Ramgopal Yadav as its candidates for the elections.
