Uttar Pradesh Floods: At least 26 districts of Uttar Pradesh have witnessed flood-like situations due to a surge in water levels of the rivers, causing inconveniences to the locals. As per the state administration, 21,333 people from these regions have been evacuated to safer locations so far. It further stated that food and other necessary items are being provided to the affected people.

While providing details, the Relief Commissioner's office stated that 2,304 boats and motorboats are being used to reach the stranded people in all these districts. It further stated that over 8.58 lakh lunch packets have been distributed so far, adding that 83,545 lunch packets were distributed on Wednesday. The authorities have assured that necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of affected people.
The administration has also informed that over 1.38 lakh flood relief kits have also been distributed in these districts. The state government has established 1,343 flood shelters to provide safe shelter to affected people. The rivers of Uttar Pradesh have witnessed a significant surge in water levels, leading to floods in many districts.
These Districts Remain Affected
Relief Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod stated that several districts, including Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Bahraich, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Rampur, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, and Varanasi, are still affected by the floods.
Advisory Issued For Residents
Earlier last week, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district administrations to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to minimize the damage. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies to ensure safety.
Along with Uttar Pradesh, several districts of Bihar have also been facing similar conditions after Nepal was struck by flash floods. However, relief is likely in the coming weeks as the water level is expected to drop in some of the regions of both states.
