The monsoon has intensified across several parts of the country, with Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha witnessing heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh warnings for more intense rainfall in several states over the coming days.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall was recorded in eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha and Mizoram during the past 24 hours. A low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh is expected to influence weather conditions in neighbouring regions, prompting a warning for moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning over the next four days.
Which States Received Heavy Rainfall?
Several parts of the country recorded significant rainfall during the past 24 hours. Long Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Amrāgh in Assam recorded the highest rainfall, with 12 cm each.
Haldia in West Bengal received 10 cm of rainfall, while Muhammdi in Uttar Pradesh and Kolasib in Mizoram recorded 9 cm each. Nabarangpur in Odisha received 8 cm, while Niwali in western Madhya Pradesh recorded 7 cm of rainfall.
Weather to Change Again From September 11
The weather is expected to become more active again from September 11, with a developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal likely to bring another spell of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to parts of eastern and central India.
According to the weather department, the system may bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh until Saturday. This comes as Odisha is already dealing with flood-related concerns during the ongoing monsoon season.
The system is expected to develop around September 11 near the northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha coasts. Its formation could trigger rainfall across several parts of the country.
The IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall in Odisha on September 10 and in Arunachal Pradesh on September 12. An orange warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in Balasore, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on September 9, along with thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 50 kmph.
A yellow warning for heavy rain has also been issued for Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh districts.
Rainfall Forecast for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana
Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from September 11 to 14.
Madhya Pradesh is also expected to witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on September 13 and 14. Western Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive rainfall from September 12 to 14, while large parts of Chhattisgarh and eastern Madhya Pradesh may experience rain from September 10 to 14.
The IMD has also warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in parts of Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between September 8 and 14.
Delhi Rain Forecast
In the national capital, rainfall is likely to return from Friday. Delhi is expected to experience generally cloudy skies, with rain likely to bring a change in weather conditions after the recent spell of showers.

Himachal Pradesh to See Wet Spell Till September 14
Meanwhile, the Shimla Met office on Tuesday predicted a wet spell in Himachal Pradesh until September 14, as light to moderate rainfall continued across several parts of the state.
A total of 65 roads are closed in Himachal Pradesh following the rainfall. The maximum number of roads are blocked in Mandi district (29), followed by Kullu (11), Kangra (10), Sirmaur (7), Shimla and Una (3 each), and Solan and Lahaul-Spiti (1 each), according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
