Chhattisgarh Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the southern districts of Chhattisgarh will continue to receive heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds on Saturday. While the continuous intense rainfall has reduced temperature, it has also caused waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences for the residents. As per the latest advisory, the region is expected to receive rain for the next few more days.
Heavy Rain Likely In Multiple Regions
While providing details, the IMD stated that the southern parts of the state are set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. Along with the Bastar division, extremely heavy rainfall is also expected in the districts of Raipur and Durg divisions. The residents of these regions have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly to avoid inconveniences.
As per the weather department, a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, coastal south Odisha, and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. It further stated that a trough has formed from northern Rajasthan to this system, extending through Chhattisgarh, at an altitude of 3.1 kilometers.
Rain Breaks Records In Some Regions
While Chhattisgarh has received less rainfall this year, some of the districts have been witnessing intense rainfall in the past few days. The authorities stated that Balrampur has received 66 per cent more than normal with 1474.1 mm, while Bijapur's rainfall of 1254.3 mm is almost equal to normal.
Apart from this, Bilaspur has received 951.3 mm of rainfall, which is close to the normal figure of 949.8 mm. Along with Chhattisgarh, several other states, including Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, also received heavy rainfall lately. The weather department stated that the current system is likely to stay for the next five days, leading to rainfall in the southern districts.
