Tamil Nadu News: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nainar Nagendran on Friday said Annamalai's resignation from the BJP will not cause any harm to the party. His reaction came after the BJP accepted Annamalai's resignation, ending the speculations about the former IPS officer's exit.
The BJP is a party based on ideology, not on individuals, Nagendran said, adding that he couldn't comment on Annamalai's resignation, but the BJP is not a party that was formed recently.
'Annamalai's Resignation From BJP Will Have No Impact'
"It is an ideology-based party, and this development will certainly have no impact. Anyone is free to start a political party. Everyone has this right in a democracy. Annamalai's resignation from the BJP will have no impact on the party," he asserted.

Nagendran also responded to allegations that the BJP does not give enough importance to the rights and interests of Tamil Nadu, saying the saffron party has consistently worked to promote and preserve the Tamil language.
He said that the BJP consistently works with genuine concern for the Tamil language. When PM Modi visits countries, he speaks of Tamil heritage and its greatness, highlighted Nagendran.

What Next For Annamalai?
Earlier, after his resignation was accepted, Annamalai released a video expressing his views. He said, "It was difficult for me to decide whether I am a member of the BJP or a Tamil. I informed the party on December 4, 2025, that I wanted to resign. But the party told me to complete the elections first and then leave."
He further said, "From today, a new path, a new movement, a new political campaign begins. I have respectfully left the BJP to start a new kind of politics. The goals are bigger, and more people will have to be taken along." It is speculated that he may form his own political outfit, seeing the success of actor Vijay's TVK.
