Jagran Correspondent, Greater Noida: In a major update for the flight passengers, the officials stated that the construction of the Noida International Airport's international terminal is expected to be completed by October. They further stated that the international flight services are expected to begin by the end of this year. Earlier on Tuesday, the construction work was reviewed at the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) board meeting in Lucknow.
NIAL Provides Details
In the 27th NIAL board meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary SP Goyal, the officials stated that the construction work is expected to be completed in the next three to four months. Nikhil Funde, Director of Civil Aviation, and Secretary of the Finance Department Sandeep Kaur were approved as directors on the board of directors of NIAL in the high-profile meeting.
The higher authorities, in the meeting, sought information about the daily status of domestic and cargo flights under the first phase. Apart from this, they also asked about the update on the international terminal, reported Jagran. While providing details, the officials stated that the construction work is underway and it will be completed in October.
They further asserted that the international flight services are expected to begin by the end of this year. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, NAIL CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh, and Nodal Officer Shailendra Kumar Bhatia. Apart from this, the CEOs of Noida and Greater Noida participated via video conferencing.
Second Runway Under Construction
The preparations for the construction of a second runway and the establishment of aircraft engine manufacturing companies have been intensified, the officials informed in the meeting. Earlier, the officials stated that 2,053 hectares of land belonging to 12,000 farmers from 14 villages will be acquired in the third phase of the airport.
The district administration has already distributed approximately Rs 5,500 crore in compensation to 8,000 farmers, reported Jagran. The officials have assured that the full compensation will be distributed in the next two months.
