The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is transitioning to a new era today, Friday, February 13, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to move into 'Seva Teerth,' a shift the government describes as a "landmark milestone in transforming India’s administrative governance architecture." To commemorate this historic occasion, the Prime Minister will release a Rs 100 commemorative coin.

A New Hub Of Governance: Seva Teerth

Located on Dara Shikoh Road near Vijay Chowk, the Seva Teerth complex spans an impressive 2.26 lakh square feet. The Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the new office building alongside 'Kartavya Bhavan' this Friday evening.

The complex is designed to streamline high-level administration by housing three critical wings:

Seva Teerth 1: The Prime Minister’s primary office.

Seva Teerth 2: The Cabinet Secretariat.

Seva Teerth 3: The National Security Council Secretariat and the office of the National Security Advisor.

Bringing these offices together under one roof will facilitate seamless coordination and make it much easier for the Prime Minister to chair Cabinet meetings.

Constructed for Rs 1,189 crore, the name 'Seva Teerth', meaning "Pilgrimage of Service"—reflects a commitment to national priorities. Beyond symbolism, the move serves a practical purpose: it will simplify the Prime Minister’s movement within the city, thereby reducing the traffic congestion often faced by the general public during VVIP transitions.

The legacy of the South Block PMO is profound; it hosted the very first Cabinet meeting of independent India on August 15, 1947, presided over by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Now, after eight decades of witnessing the nation's evolution, the center of authority moves to its new, technologically advanced home.
