In a tragic incident, a 66-year-old man died after collapsing while standing in the queue for a domestic cylinder on Friday morning. The incident took place in Barnala’s Sehna village amid the shortage of LPG cylinders in the nation due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
The deceased, identified as Bhushan Kumar Mittal, was a resident of Sehna, Punjab. As per the reports, Mittal has been standing in the queue from 7.15 am and collapsed at around 8.00 am, minutes before the agency was scheduled to open.
According to Sehna station house officer (SHO) Renu, many residents were standing in the queue from 6 am, making Mittal 25th among 130 at that time. As per the deceased nephew, Raman Mittal, the deceased had one m,arried daughter and owned a small grocery shop.
Raman added that the victim had been waiting in the queue for nearly 40 minutes before collapsing. “Local shortages led to this tragedy,” HT quoted Raman.

The LPG shortage has created panic among residents in the nation. The situation has increased panic booking and long queues at gas agencies. The Indian government on Friday said that there is no shortage of oil in the country and that Domestic LPG production has been increased by 30 pc vis-a-vis March 5, ensuring uninterrupted supply to households.
