A major explosion occurred late at night on the railway line in the Sirhind area of Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. According to sources, the blast is suspected to have been carried out using RDX. The incident took place at approximately 11:00 pm on Friday while a goods train was passing through the newly constructed Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).
Reports indicate that this new railway line was built specifically for the operation of freight trains. As the engine of the goods train reached the Khanpur gates, a powerful explosion suddenly occurred. The force of the blast was so intense that an approximately 12-foot section of the railway track was completely blown away.
The driver of the freight train’s engine sustained injuries in the explosion and was rushed to the hospital for primary medical treatment. The blast triggered panic and chaos in the area, after which railway authorities were immediately notified of the incident.
