Ration Card Status: A ration card remains one of the most important documents for ordinary families across India. It is the key to accessing free or subsidised food grains supplied by the government every month. The more eligible family members you have listed on the card, the larger the quantity of ration you are entitled to receive.
If any family member is missing from your ration card and you want to include them, you don’t have to make repeated visits to government offices anymore. The entire process can now be completed conveniently from home using just a mobile app.
Which App To Use?
You need to download the Mera Ration 2.0 app from the Google Play Store. Using this app, you can add new family members to your ration card from home. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Step-By-Step Process To Add New Member In Ration Card
- First, download the Mera Ration 2.0 app from the Play Store.
- Open the app and enter your Aadhaar number. Make sure the Aadhaar is linked to your mobile number, as verification will happen via OTP on that number.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify.
- Set a PIN for the app to secure future logins.
- Go to the Family Details section. You will see the list of members already included in your ration card.
- To add a new member, click on the New Member option.
- Fill in the required details of the new family member and click Submit.

What If Your Mobile Number Is Not Linked to Aadhaar?If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, you will need to link it first.
Follow these steps:
- Visit the official UIDAI website (uidai.gov.in).
- Go to My Aadhaar section and select Get Aadhaar → Book Appointment.
- Enter your city or location and click Proceed to Book Appointment.
- Enter your mobile number, captcha, and the OTP received on your phone.
- Select your Resident Type.
- Enter the new mobile number you want to link.
- Click Next, choose your preferred appointment date and time slot.
- Review all the details carefully and click Submit to confirm the booking.
- On the selected date and time, visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. The operator will collect your biometrics and link the new mobile number to your Aadhaar.
Alternatively, once your mobile is linked, you can also update or manage mobile number details directly through the Mera Ration 2.0 app in many cases.
