West Bengal SIR Voter List: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday released the draft electoral rolls for West Bengal after the month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The draft list also contains the names of voters who are likely to be excluded, reported news agency PTI.
The ECI has deleted 58 lakh names from West Bengal's draft voter list in order to remove errors and duplicate entries. Of the 58 lakh deleted names, 24 lakh have been declared as "dead", 19 lakh as "relocated", 12 lakh as "missing", and 1.3 lakh as "duplicate".
The ECI has not yet officially announced the release of the draft electoral rolls for West Bengal. The draft electoral rolls for all the constituencies were not published by 10 am on Tuesday. However, after a few minutes, ECI released the draft electoral rolls for West Bengal on its website - eci.gov.in. The electoral list is available both in online and offline mode. The booth-level officers (BLOs) across West Bengal had got the electoral list ahead of its publication on Tuesday.

The draft rolls include all entries, including those submitted through enumeration forms, as well as names of deceased persons, missing voters and duplicate entries, the official added.
The poll panel official said that the draft voter list under SIR process will be shared with all recognised political parties, though printed copies will not be immediately available at Block Development Officer (BDO) and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) offices.
According to Commission estimates based on data verification, more than 5.7 million voters names may be deleted from the rolls, including those of deceased, relocated and duplicate voters. The figures have led to anxiety among voters, though officials maintained there was no cause for concern.
