Twisha Sharma's death case continues to escalate in Madhya Pradesh after her husband, Samarth Singh, was taken into police custody following a failed surrender attempt at the Jabalpur court. Police have now confirmed that he will be produced before the court, and further interrogation steps are being initiated, including a proposed remand period.
At the same time, the legal process has widened, with the Madhya Pradesh High Court issuing notice to former judge and co-accused Giribala Singh in connection with pleas seeking cancellation of her anticipatory bail. Investigations are simultaneously focusing on custody, evidence, and alleged non-cooperation in the case.

Police take Samarth Singh into custody; remand likely to be sought
Bhopal Police detained Samarth Singh from the Jabalpur court premises after his surrender attempt, and now plan further custodial interrogation.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar explained the next steps after arrest and interrogation, “First, we will get his medical done and file a PR (Personal Recognisance Bond) from the Court. We will ask for 7 days' remand. He was brought in quite late at night. Some procedures still take time. We'll interrogate him further, and only then can we say anything... When he is questioned in detail, if something comes to light that someone sheltered him, action will be taken against them as well. What happened was that he had come to the court in Jabalpur to surrender, but the court refused to let him surrender. Meanwhile, my team was also there. Then, my team took him into custody with the help of the Jabalpur police team.”
High Court issues notice to Giribala Singh
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notice to former judge Giribala Singh in connection with petitions seeking cancellation of her anticipatory bail in the case.
Giribala Singh says she has not been contacted yet by the police
She has stated she is willing to cooperate with the investigation but claims she has not yet been formally approached. “Cops yet to reach out to me for recording my statement,” she said, adding that she would be “happy” to give her version once formally called by investigators, reported PTI.
Defence says 10-day absence was legal process, not absconding
Samarth Singh’s lawyer defended the gap before custody, “He was not hiding. There is a provision under Section 482 of the new BNSS that allows a person to seek anticipatory bail if they believe they have been unnecessarily implicated in a case," NDTV quoted Mrigendra Singh.
The lawyer further said the accused followed legal advice before surrendering, “If they had appeared without bail protection, they would have been arrested immediately,” he said.
The defence claims the couple spent time together before the incident, “He had dropped Twisha at a beauty parlour, later picked her up, and they spent time together in the evening before she went upstairs, saying she ‘needed space’.”

Salon owner claims repeated calls and CCTV demand
Salon owner Kiran Parihar said she received repeated inquiries from Giribala Singh after Twisha’s visit. “The next morning, I received a call from Singh, who asked for confirmation of Twisha’s visit, including service details and payment records. Singh allegedly made repeated inquiries about whether there was any proof of Twisha’s presence at the salon.”
Parihar stated that she received a call in which Singh confirmed to her about Twisha's death through suicide, and yet again asked for the CCTV footage of his visit.
She also claimed that a few minutes later, 5-6 people who identified themselves as advocates appeared before them and claimed that they were acting on the orders of the police. They asked the staff members about the CCTV footage of the premises, obtained it, and took the footage, the police affiliation or designation of whom remains unclear.”
