Twisha Sharma Death Case: Eight days after Twisha Sharma was found hanging on the terrace of her matrimonial home, her body remains in a Bhopal morgue as her family continues to demand a second autopsy, citing alleged lapses in the police investigation.
However, a local court in Bhopal rejected the parents' demand on Wednesday.
"There is nothing on record which indicates any collusive or suspicious relationship of the accused persons and the medical team of AIIMS Bhopal, who conducted the post-mortem. Videography of the first post-mortem was done. The case is not triable by this court."
However, Twisha's family has refused to collect her body for her final rites.
'Look For Other Options': Court
Earlier on Wednesday, the Bhopal Police noted that Twisha's body is currently stored in the mortuary at AIIMS Bhopal at minus 4 degrees Celsius, way higher than it is needed to preserve a body for a longer duration.
Authorities warned that the body is likely to decompose quickly under these conditions. To prevent decomposition, a body must be kept at minus 80 degrees Celsius. However, no such facility is available anywhere in Bhopal.
"AIIMS authorities reportedly informed police on the night of May 18 that to prevent decomposition, the body should ideally be preserved at minus 80 degrees Celsius, a facility unavailable at the hospital. You had submitted a letter before the Police Commissioner's Office and Katara Hills police station seeking preservation of the body and a second post-mortem examination," Station House Officer (SHO) of Katara Hills police station wrote in a letter.
The local court directed the Station House Officer (SHO) to 'look for other options' where Twisha's body can be preserved, NDTV reported.
"A letter be issued to the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Katara Hills, directing them to immediately obtain written information from medical institutions as to whether a low-temperature preservation facility is available in other higher medical institutions of Madhya Pradesh and medical institutions of other metropolitan cities of Madhya Pradesh and to submit a written report to this Court without any delay," the judge said.
Twisha's Family Demands Removal Of Giribala Singh From Judiciary Role
Twisha's family has written to the Governor for an impartial probe into the case, while also demanding the removal of Twisha's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, from her current position as Chairperson of Bench 2 of the Bhopal Consumer Commission.

Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, was found hanging on the terrace of her matrimonial home on May 12, barely five months after marrying Samarth Singh, a lawyer whom she had met through a dating app in 2024.
Her parents alleged that Twisha was subjected to various forms of abuse by her husband and in-laws. This claim was supported by WhatsApp chats between Twisha and her mother, Rekha Sharma, which reveal that she felt 'trapped' and faced mental torture and dowry harassment.
However, Giribala Singh alleged that Twisha was a psychiatric patient and a drug addict who showed withdrawal symptoms. However, the police have stated that there is no evidence to substantiate this claim.
Earlier, a sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh. However, her son, the prime accused in the case, remains at large. The Bhopal Police have announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 for any information leading to his arrest.
