Jagran Correspondent, Agra: Heavy rain lashed several parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning, ending a four-day dry spell and bringing much-needed relief to residents experiencing humidity.
The rainfall, which began with wind under cloudy skies, paused briefly before resuming around 8:45 AM. The shower lasted for about an hour, bringing down temperatures and giving the city a cooler start to the day.
Four-Day Dry Spell Raised Temperatures, Humidity
Rainfall had recently stopped across the state due to a decrease in monsoon activity. Following a downpour on Friday evening, a dry spell set in, leaving residents to suffer through intense, humid heat as both maximum and minimum temperatures rose.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast thunderstorms or isolated rain on Wednesday.
Morning Rain Brings Relief
Subsequently, several parts of the state received rain on Wednesday morning, bringing down humidity levels as a cool breeze swept across the area. The rain resumed around 8:45 AM and continued for about an hour.
What's Ahead?
The Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy skies with the possibility of one or two spells of rain or thundershowers throughout the day. Similar weather conditions are expected to persist over the next few days, with the intensity of the rainfall likely to increase starting July 19.

All-India Weather Outlook
The IMD has issued an alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain in several states, including Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal, in the coming days. It further stated that the northeastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also set to receive heavy rain.
In its advisory, the weather department stated that heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning is expected in these states within the next 12 hours.
