Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain in 22 states across the country. In its advisory, the weather department stated that heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning is expected in these states within the next 12 hours. As per the meteorological department, a low-pressure area is forming in the North Bay of Bengal, leading to heavy rain in the eastern and northeastern states.

Heavy Rain In These States

The weather department has issued a warning of heavy rain in several states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. Apart from this, there is also an alert for heavy rain in Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal in the coming days. It further stated that the northeastern states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also set to receive heavy rain.

Will Delhi Witness Rain?

Amid the scorching heat in Delhi-NCR, cloudy skies are expected throughout the week; however, the capital city is not likely to witness rain. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at around 38 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature will remain around 28 degrees Celsius. As per the weather forecast, the capital city is likely to witness similar conditions for the next few days.

Heavy Rain In UP, Bihar

However, several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bahraich, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Kanpur, Etawah, Jalaun, Banda, Agra, Auraiya, and Hamirpur, are set to witness heavy rain, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The IMD stated that a few districts of Bihar, including Kishanganj and Araria, are likely to receive heavy rain on Wednesday. Apart from this, other regions such as Samastipur, East and West Champaran, Saran, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Saharsa, Begusarai, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall.
