UP Weather Forecast: After several days of unusually high temperatures in early March, Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), along with Uttar Pradesh, experienced a much-needed break on Sunday morning. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds accompanied by rainfall swept through the region, offering relief from the scorching heat. In Uttar Pradesh, places like Lucknow are expected to stay overcast through Sunday and Monday.
Earlier in the week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms, and they were spot on with their forecast. Since Sunday morning, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh has been experiencing rain, thunder, and lightning, accompanied by strong winds. This sudden weather change has helped bring down the temperatures significantly.
Orange Alert In Uttar Pradesh: Check IMD Forecast
The IMD has issued a warning for more rain in various districts of western Uttar Pradesh, including Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Etah, Aligarh, Etawah, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, and others. Kanpur and nearby areas are under an orange alert due to the severity of the storms.
Looking ahead, rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue on March 15 and 16, affecting areas like Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, and Badaun.
The IMD has stated that while eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience heavier rainfall on Sunday, light to moderate rain is anticipated in the Kanpur region. A yellow alert will be in place across the entire state on Monday.
