Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: The monsoon has fully activated across Uttar Pradesh, bringing widespread rainfall to the state. Starting Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in more than 60 districts, from eastern to western Uttar Pradesh.

Residents are advised to stay updated on local weather conditions as the active monsoon system moves through the region.

Pressure In Bay Of Bengal To Bring Heavy Rain And Gusty Winds

Due to a pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, the Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in the state over the next few days.

- The weather office has issued an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall in Lucknow and its surrounding districts.

- Additionally, an alert for thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour has been issued for approximately 24 districts.

What IMD Says?

Speaking to Jagran.com, Meteorological Department scientist Akhil Srivastava stated that monsoon conditions are highly favourable across northern parts of the country. A low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and has now become a cyclonic circulation, which is expected to trigger heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh.

The IMD has placed Eastern Uttar Pradesh on high alert for very heavy rainfall until July 11, while districts including Agra, Etawah, and Jalaun are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.

Delhi-NCR Weather Today

Heavy rains continued to lash the Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday morning, causing waterlogging in several areas, including Gurugram and Faridabad. In Faridabad, the Mohana area recorded the highest rainfall of 84 mm of rain in the past 12 hours. Meanwhile, Faridabad city received 61 mm of rain, and the Tigaon area registered 26 mm.

This wet spell is expected to persist, as the IMD has forecast cloudy skies over the next three to four days. Residents are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h.
