Uttarakhand Rain Alert: The continuous and intense rainfall in Uttarakhand has led to landslides in the hilly regions and waterlogging in the plain districts. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), most of the districts will continue to witness rainfall on Friday. The administration has stated that the blocked roads are being cleared, further advising the residents and tourists to limit their outings for the next few days.
107 Roads Blocked
As per the reports, maximum temperatures dropped by four to eight degrees Celsius below normal in most parts of the state due to the continuous rainfall. The intense rainfall led to landslides, which blocked 107 connecting roads in the state. The water level of Nainital Lake increased significantly on Thursday, forcing boating to be temporarily halted.
While the weather department has issued a red alert for Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Champawat, it issued an orange alert for the capital city Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, and Bageshwar on Friday. Along with rainfall, these regions are also expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The authority has advised people to avoid non-essential travel during this period.

Heavy Rain Alert For Multiple Districts
"The weather department has also issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in several districts on Friday. In light of the alert, all schools up to grade 12 and Anganwadi centers in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, and Bageshwar have declared a holiday on Friday," the government said in its advisory.
The water level of several rivers, including Alaknanda, Pindar, Ganga, Kali, Saryu, and Gauri, has significantly increased in the past few days. However, these rivers are currently flowing below the danger mark. While several roads got damaged in the Karnaprayag-Pindarghati area due to intense rain, a landslide near Bhanerpani on the Badrinath Highway closed the national highway for three hours.
