Weather Forecast: The New Year has begun with severe cold and dense fog for North India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for dense to very dense fog in many parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh on Friday, January 2, due to which visibility may drop to 50 metres. Heavy snowfall is continuing in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while light rain in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi has increased the chill.
Delhi-NCR Weather
The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover around 7-9 degrees Celsius. Dense fog this morning is likely to impact flight and train operations. Cold wave conditions are expected to persist in the city until January 5.

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Weather
A yellow alert for dense fog is in place for eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on January 2. Visibility is expected to be very low in the morning in Gaya, Bihar, and several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Weather
Dense fog may occur in isolated areas over northern Madhya Pradesh on January 2 and 3. Temperatures may drop by 2-3 degrees.
Himachal And Kashmir Weather
Snowfall in Kashmir's Gulmarg and Pahalgam areas has delighted tourists, but the plains remain bitterly cold. Dense fog and cold day conditions will persist in Himachal Pradesh until January 5.
Lightning Strike In Rajasthan
One person died in Rajasthan on Thursday due to hailstorm and lightning. The incident occurred when lightning struck a house in Sadulshahar, Churu district. The intense cold following heavy rain has left residents in a state of distress.
On January 1, heavy rains in Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, and Churu districts further increased the chill. Several districts across the state have been experiencing rain, hailstorms, and severe cold since Wednesday night. Fog enveloped most districts on Thursday. Heavy rain also lashed Chittorgarh district.
According to IMD, the minimum temperature in Alwar has dropped by five degrees Celsius. As per the weather department, the cold will intensify further.
Dense fog in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, Sriganganagar, and Hanumangarh districts, bordering the international border, has caused significant inconvenience to residents. The rain and dense fog have severely affected air, road, and rail traffic.
