The Jharkhand government will conduct the second phase of its Teachers’ Needs Assessment from November 18 to 20 to identify the training requirements of government school teachers.
The assessment, organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy, will cover teachers from primary, upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools who have registered for the exercise. Nearly 1.2 lakh teachers are expected to participate.

According to the schedule issued by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), primary teachers will take part in both sessions on the first day, November 18. On November 19, primary teachers will attend the first session, while the second session will include primary teachers along with English and Hindi teachers of upper primary schools.
On November 20, the first session will involve mathematics and science teachers of upper primary schools and teachers of higher secondary schools. The second session on the same day will include social science teachers from upper primary schools and teachers from secondary schools.
Teachers have been instructed to carry smartphones for the assessment, though tablets supplied to schools will also be used for the online process. The State Project Director has directed the formation of 10-member teams in each block to conduct the exercise, while district-level monitoring will be handled by the District Programme Officer and designated monitoring teams.
The state has made 50 hours of annual training mandatory for all teachers. The last phase of the Teachers’ Need Assessment was conducted in April.
