Ranchi Fire: 6 Buses Gutted At Khadgada Terminus; Short Circuit Suspected, No Casualties Reported

At least six buses were destroyed in a major fire at the inter-state terminus in Ranchi. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Khadgada area, under the jurisdiction of the Lower Bazar police station. Police stated the fire originated in a defunct bus before spreading to others, but no casualties were reported. Five fire tenders brought the blaze under control in two hours; the cause is unknown, though a short circuit is suspected.

At least six parked buses were gutted in a major fire at an inter-state terminus in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Police said no casualties were reported in the incident, which occurred on Sunday afternoon in Khadgada, within the jurisdiction of the Lower Bazar police station.

Origin And Spread Of Blaze

They said the fire started in a defunct bus and quickly spread to other vehicles parked nearby. Sunil, the in-charge of the Khadgada police outpost, told PTI, "No one was injured in the incident as no one was present in any of the vehicles when the fire broke out."

Emergency Response And Firefighting Efforts

He said that five fire tenders brought the blaze under control after a struggle of about two hours. The swift response prevented the fire from spreading further into the crowded terminus.

Investigation And Potential Causes

The OC said, "The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but a short circuit could be a reason." He said that a firm conclusion could only be reached after the investigation is complete. CCTV footage will be examined to determine the cause.
