Nintendo Switch 2: The wait for the Nintendo Switch 2 is almost over. After years of rumours, speculation, and a reveal video back in January that left us with more questions than answers, the highly anticipated Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Switch 2 is nearly here.

The event is set for Wednesday, April 2, and promises to answer all the lingering questions about the next-gen console. The biggest details we’re expecting to hear include the confirmed release date and, of course, the all-important price. Rumours suggest the Switch 2 will launch in June 2025, with a price tag of around $399. It’s possible that pre-orders will open right after the Direct.

But it’s not just the hardware details we’re excited about. We’re also expecting to see new games revealed for the Switch 2. We already know a new Mario Kart is on the way, but could we also get a glimpse of the rumoured follow-up to Super Mario Odyssey? Fans are also hoping for updates on beloved franchises like The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Splatoon, and Super Smash Bros. The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated gaming events of the year, and it promises to fill in the gaps that have surrounded the console for so long.

What to Expect from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

While Nintendo is keeping tight-lipped about the specifics of the event, we can make a few educated guesses. It’s all but certain that we’ll get a confirmed price and release date for the console — we know it’s coming in 2025, but now we’ll likely learn exactly when. We also expect to see more details about the upcoming Mario Kart game. Teasers have already hinted at more racers than ever in this next instalment.

Aside from that, there are plenty of rumoured Switch 2 games that could be revealed. It’s likely we’ll see confirmation of some of these, including potential updates for major franchises. And don’t be surprised if Nintendo unveils some new Switch 2 accessories, possibly including an upgraded version of the Pro Controller.
