London-based tech company Nothing has teased a new product on its official X (formerly called Twitter) handle. The move comes after the recent announcement of the Nothing Phone (2a) Special Edition, which will be on sale from June 5 in limited quantities on Flipkart. The company posted an image of what appears to be a corner edge of the device with a screw on one side.

Nothing's Cofounder Akis Evangelidis reposted the image and said: "Phone", which could imply the handset could be the much-awaited Nothing Phone (3) or the CMF Phone (1).

Nothing Phone (3)?

The cryptic teaser post is accompanied by the text: "3,2,1." This could indicate the third iteration in Nothing's smartphone lineup. However, Nothing smartphones have offered a semi-transparent rear design in the past. The image hints at a non-transparent matte finish on the rear. Hence, it could be the rumoured handset of the CMF label, provided the Carl Pei-led firm does not change priorities in favour of a veiled back panel for its premium lineup.

Even if the teased handset is not the Phone (3), the third-generation Nothing Phone will likely launch in July 2024 with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It could offer an extra button below the power button (similar to a Capture button or Alert Slider). The smartphone may sit in the sub-Rs 45,000 price bracket.

Or CMF Phone (1)?

According to a leak on X, the CMF-branded smartphone is expected to get a replaceable plastic back panel and a Nothing Lock on the lower right corner of the back for exclusive add-ons. The hint of the screw in the picture could imply the teased device could be CMF By Nothing's first handset. It is rumoured to launch in July 2024 at a starting price of $249.

The device could sport a 6.67-inch OLED 120Hz screen, Dimensity 7200 series chipset, Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, and dual cameras on the rear.
