OpenAI, the AI research and deployment company behind viral chatbot - ChatGPT, was set to release a custom GPT store this year. However, according to a report from Reuters, the firm has delayed the release of the GPT store until early next year. The news outlet cited an internal memo to affirm its claim. For the unaware, the company announced custom GPTs and store at the OpenAI DevDay conference, which was set to release this month.
According to the cited internal communication, the firm is making continuous improvements to GPTs after collecting user feedback. The delay also comes amid the recent drama around the firing and hiring of the current CEO and AI super face - Sam Altman. The swift reinstatement came against the backdrop of the written mass resignation threat by OpenAI employees.
The GPTs are early versions of the assistant that can perform tasks including booking tickets and more. It is expected to let users share GPTs and allow them to earn money based on its popularity. According to OpenAI, GPTs are tailored versions of ChatGPT that can perform specific tasks. "Anyone can easily build their own GPT—no coding is required," the company said.
These can be deployed for internal purposes or other use cases. "Creating one is as easy as starting a conversation, giving it instructions and extra knowledge, and picking what it can do, like searching the web, making images or analyzing data," OpenAI stated in a blog post.
