A 13-year-old boy from Oklahoma becomes first person to beat the popular NES version of Tetris. Willis Gibson, who operates the YouTube account Blue Scuti, played the renowned block stacking game for more than 38 minutes till the kill screen error of the game crash appeared on the screen.
For those who don't know, Tetris is an endless game with glitchy kill panels that appear when the game speeds up too quickly for the software to handle. It's interesting to note that Gibson has now entered the list of winners, since StackRabbit, an AI programme, was the only one to accomplish this feat in 2021.

Gibson used the rolling technique, which allows players to roll the NES controller between their hands to hit the D-pad up to 20 times per second. According to reports, Gibson cleared lines with pinpoint accuracy until the game couldn't take it any more. Since its discovery a few years ago, the style has completely altered the competitive Tetruis scene.
Gibson has already smashed records for the highest score in the game, the number of levels completed, and the number of lines cleared using the rolling approach. With this rare kill screen, he has now established himself as one of the greatest Tetris players of all time.
During an interview, he has also stated that this feat is dedicated to his late father who passed away in December last year. He also stated that after the gameplay session, his fingers went numb.
The game has some crazy fan following and the players compete against each other in order to attain high scores since the game launched in 1989. While there are theories about the game that cannot be beaten, Gibson’s skill showcased that it can be possible with the right set of skills and practice.
