Hyderabad Metro phase 2 update: Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) on Monday informed that it has started the land acquisition process along the seven-and-a-half-kilometer MGBS-Chandrayangutta route in the Old City. It further stated that the project is being closely observed by the chief minister, Revanth Reddy. In close collaboration with Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durisetty, he is monitoring the project to ensure its timely completion. 

NVS Reddy, Managing Director, HAML, informed that the process of acquisition is proceeding rapidly and added that a total of 1,100 properties are part of this project. He further informed that the District Collector has already received requisitions for 900 properties under the Land Acquisition Act.

He also stated that 800 properties have received preliminary notifications in phases, with 400 receiving preliminary declarations. Apart from this, awards for compensation for 200 properties are expected to be completed by the end of this month. It was also ensured that it will start the demolition and construction activities. 

The HAML stated that the compensation to the property owners is the priority of the authorities for a smooth demolition process. It further stated that payments will be made immediately after the awards are finalised, leading to the smooth handover of properties for demolition. The authorities are also engaged in negotiation with the affected property owners to address concerns and reach reasonable solutions.

NVS Reddy affirmed that the metro expansion in Hyderabad is being done carefully, considering its rich and old cultural heritage. He assured that all religious and historical structures along the route are being protected using advanced solutions. He also emphasised that the authority has a commitment to balance development with cultural preservation.

The fast land acquisition process will lead to the timely construction in Hyderabad. The project is expected to significantly improve the connectivity in the city and will provide relief to the commuters.
