Kristen Stewart, known for her candid nature, recently voiced her thoughts on Hollywood's approach towards championing women in the film industry. In a conversation with Porter magazine, the actor-turned-filmmaker expressed her views on what she perceives as a superficial trend.

Stewart highlighted Hollywood's tendency to celebrate a select few women, such as Margot Robbie, while neglecting a more inclusive approach. She criticized the industry's practice of "checking boxes" to showcase diversity without truly challenging the underlying patriarchy. She specifically mentioned Greta Gerwig's satire 'Barbie', starring Robbie, as an example, along with Maggie Gyllenhaal's upcoming film "The Bride."

The Twilight star acknowledged the talent of these women but criticized the industry's tendency to tokenize their achievements. She stated, "And I’m in awe of those women, I love those women [but] it feels phoney. If we’re congratulating each other for broadening perspective, when we haven’t really done enough, then we stop broadening."

Stewart's comments come at a time when she is gearing up for the release of her directorial debut, 'The Chronology Of Water'. She has been vocal about the financial challenges she faced while making the movie, highlighting the difficulties independent filmmakers often encounter.

Discussing her views on starring in superhero movies, Stewart admitted that the prospect "sounds like a nightmare" to her. She expressed reluctance to star in Marvel movies unless approached by a specific person, citing the need for a change in the system. However, she noted that if Greta Gerwig were to ask her to star in a Marvel film, she would consider it, suggesting that personal trust and artistic collaboration are crucial factors for her.

Kristen Stewart's upcoming projects include 'Sacramento' and the vampire movie 'Flesh of the Gods', showcasing her diverse range as an actor and filmmaker.
