The rising water level in the Yamuna river has not only created a flood crisis in the NCR but has also severely affected train services, increasing the troubles for passengers. On Wednesday, thousands of commuters faced major difficulties traveling to and from Delhi, with many reaching their offices two to four hours late.
Daily commuters traveling between Ghaziabad and Delhi had to wait for a long time for EMU and other trains coming from the Moradabad side. One passenger mentioned that his EMU train arrived two hours late, and because the route was changed, he had to complete the rest of his journey by auto-rickshaw.
The routes of 30 trains heading towards Old Delhi have been changed. Now, instead of going directly from Ghaziabad to Old Delhi, all these trains are being routed through New Delhi. This route change has made the journey longer for passengers, and the trains are running hours behind schedule. The arrival times at Ghaziabad station have changed, forcing passengers to wait for long periods on the platforms. This diversion has completely disrupted people's daily routines, and due to the train delays, many commuters have been forced to use expensive alternatives like auto-rickshaws and cabs.
According to the Ghaziabad Railway Station Superintendent, Monendra Chaudhary, the train routes are being changed as per instructions from higher authorities.
These trains have been canceled:
Train numbers 54057 (Old Delhi-Shamli Passenger), 54058 (Shamli-Old Delhi Passenger), 64445 (Ghaziabad-Delhi Jn. EMU), 64412 (Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU), 64407 (Ghaziabad-Delhi Jn. EMU), and 74023 (Delhi Jn.-Shamli DMU) have been canceled. Due to these cancellations, passengers from Ghaziabad now have to rely on the metro and e-buses.

The routes of these trains have been changed:
Train numbers 64906 (Ghaziabad-Palwal EMU), 64409 (Ghaziabad), 54307 (Moradabad-Delhi Jn. Passenger), 64582 (Delhi Jn.-Hathras Fort MEMU), and 54076 (Delhi Jn.-Bareilly Passenger) are now being sent to Old Delhi via New Delhi through the Sahibabad-Tilak Bridge route.
These trains will only run up to Shahdara:
The journeys of train numbers 74024 (Saharanpur-Delhi Jn. DMU), 64107 (Dankaur-Delhi Jn. EMU), 64092 (KasimpurKheri-Delhi Jn. MEMU), 64028 (Saharanpur-Delhi Jn. MEMU), and 64024 (Shamli-Delhi Jn. MEMU) are being terminated at Shahdara station.
