Diwali-Chhath Puja Rush: Gorakhpur Junction Activates Crowd Master Plan, 5 Holding Areas Open Today
Holding areas will operate until November 5, with train information continuing to be available.

To manage the anticipated passenger rush during the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals, Gorakhpur Junction station management has prepared a comprehensive crowd control plan, which will be in effect from October 15 to November 5. The core of this plan involves the establishment of five designated holding areas for passengers, with provisions for an additional area if necessary. These temporary waiting zones are located opposite the VIP gate at gate one, near the coach restaurant, between gates five and six, on the cabway at platform one, and near the booking hall at the northern entrance. To ensure passenger comfort, these areas are equipped with amenities including carpets, coolers, fans, lighting, drinking water facilities, and dustbins, with dedicated cleaning staff deployed for maintenance.

A systematic approach will be used to manage passenger flow from the holding areas to the platforms. Passengers will receive continuous updates about regular and special train services through display boards and announcement systems within these zones.

To prevent overcrowding on platforms, passengers for trains originating from Gorakhpur will be allowed entry 30 minutes prior to departure, while those boarding passing trains like the Vaishali, Sapt Kranti and Bihar Sampark Kranti Express will be permitted 20 minutes beforehand.

Security personnel will guide passengers along a designated route to the platforms according to their train's departure time. It has also been decided that special trains will operate exclusively from platforms 1,2 and 9.

To enhance security and streamline logistics, several additional measures have been implemented. A specific vehicle traffic plan will be enforced, requiring vehicles entering from gate two to exit via gate four, and those entering from gate five to use gate six for their exit. To ensure only authorised individuals enter the station, tickets will be strictly checked at all entry gates.

The station's surveillance capabilities have been bolstered with the installation of 30 new high-capacity CCTV cameras. Furthermore, an additional 60 security personnel will be deployed at key locations such as the holding areas, gates, ticket counters, and foot overbridges. They will be supported by other officials and staff stationed on the foot overbridges to monitor passenger movement and provide assistance as needed.
