In light of the ongoing severe cold wave in Ghaziabad, the district administration has issued department-wise guidelines and advisories for residents and livestock owners to ensure safety during extreme weather conditions.

The advisory for the general public emphasises wearing adequate winter clothing, using multiple layers to stay warm, and keeping essential items ready for emergencies. Health issues such as flu, runny or blocked noses, and nosebleeds may increase during the cold wave. Residents are advised to consult a doctor immediately if such symptoms appear.

Livestock owners have been urged to take special precautions to protect animals from the harsh cold. Measures include covering animal shelters on all sides to shield them from direct exposure to cold winds, providing warm cloths or other safe coverings for animals and poultry, and enhancing their diet with high-quality fodder and fat-rich feed.

Owners are advised not to tie animals in open areas, allow them to roam freely outside, or take them to animal fairs. Cold fodder and water should be avoided, and carcasses of dead animals should not be disposed of in open areas or grazing paths, to prevent health risks.

Extreme temperature fluctuations can also affect animal reproduction, making these measures crucial. ADM (Finance and Revenue) Saurabh Bhatt appealed to the public and livestock owners to adhere strictly to the issued advisory to ensure their safety and well-being during the cold spell.
