In Ghaziabad, the Authority has allocated plots to farmers affected by the acquisition of 800 acres of land under the Madhuban Bapudham scheme, with preparations underway to grant them possession soon. The farmers' primary demand is for equal compensation, which has not been fulfilled.
The Madhuban Bapudham scheme was launched in 2004, under which approximately 1,234 acres of land from six villages were acquired. Of this, 800 acres were acquired initially, while farmers of the remaining 281 acres filed a case in the Supreme Court.

Following the Supreme Court's decision in 2016, the GDA compensated these farmers under the new land acquisition law and acquired the land. Subsequently, the farmers affected by the acquisition of the 800 acres are now also demanding increased compensation under the new land acquisition law.
The farmers were allocated plots last month, but they demand that all farmers should receive equal compensation. To resolve this dispute, the GDA has formed a special committee, which will study all aspects of the issue and decide on the way forward.
“The farmers have been allocated plots and will be given possession soon. In addition, necessary steps will be taken by the committee to resolve the farmers' other problems,” said Pradeep Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary, GDA.
