A farmer from Sultanpur village was murdered with a hammer in Muradnagar, Ghaziabad, following a dispute over his interactions with a woman. The police solved the case on Tuesday, arresting the prime accused, Gulhasan, after a brief encounter in which he was shot in the leg.

The Murder Case

The victim, identified as Vakil alias Leelu, was a farmer from Sultanpur village. His body was discovered on Monday afternoon in the fields of Bhadauli with fatal head injuries caused by a hammer. Following the discovery, the deceased's son, Sameer, filed a complaint, leading the police to register a report and launch an investigation.

Motive Revealed

During interrogation, Gulhasan confessed to the crime. He revealed that he believed Vakil was harassing his female friend by frequently calling her. This issue had previously led to a physical altercation between the two men six months ago.

On Sunday, Gulhasan took Vakil to a field, ostensibly to resolve the matter. However, a verbal dispute broke out, which quickly escalated into a physical fight. In a fit of rage, Gulhasan struck Vakil on the head with a hammer, killing him instantly, before fleeing the scene.

Police Encounter And Arrest

Acting ACP (Masuri) Amit Saxena stated that police received a tip-off on Tuesday that the absconding accused was near Bhovapur. A police team set up checkpoints in the area.

A short while later, Gulhasan was spotted approaching from the direction of Muradnagar. Upon noticing the police, he attempted to turn his motorcycle around and flee, but the bike slipped. Finding himself cornered, he opened fire on the police team with a tamancha (country-made pistol).

In retaliatory fire, Gulhasan was shot in the leg and subsequently apprehended. Police recovered the country-made pistol, cartridges and his motorcycle from the scene. He has since been sent to jail.
